Good early weapons?
Hi!!

I am in the area of zombies (really, zombies in a steam punk game? S***, I hate zombies in games hahaha) and I still carry the original greatsword, are there any good weapons early on or I should keep with the greatsword?

Also, I am playing as a DS great 2h weapon: boss attacks, I parry a lot, I attack ONCE because greatsword it's so slow, but I do enough damage. Should I change to a faster small weapon to attack more in between parries or the fewer but stronget attacks of the greatsword it's better? Time-damage related.

Thank you so much!

The Greatsword of Fate is perfectly viable. I usually pair it with the Booster Glaive (handle) if I'm going for a Technique build or the Police Baton (handle) if I'm more Motivity focused. The pipe wrench with the glaive or baton handle is also great. Hits hard and staggers for days. Don't be afraid to mix/match to see what works for you.

I play motivity, 22 points yet, so I will try that police handle, thanks!! Why that handle over the original?

Police Baton has great moveset working fine in narrow corridors, where a lot of other handles will get animation break due to hitting walls while swinging
But I prefer Carcass Crystal Axe Handle, as it has Advanced scale and also awesome moveset with few steps dash on charge attacks, so you can charge from distance and use elemental damage. But it's for NG+, coz you will open it only in late game
Police baton is a great weapon versus puppets, as it deals blunt damage which they're weak to. If you're fighting carcasses (zombie type and mutant enemies), you want to deal slash damage instead, so you can stick a blade on to your police baton if you like its moveset. Like the starting greatsword, it scales off motivity, fitting your build.

Do NOT use the boss ergos you get for defeating them to gain more ergo points. Once you make your way 2/3rds through the Cathedral area, you will meet a merchant who will sell you great weapons for them. You can get a greatsword from the Parade Master's ergo which is a great combined motivity/technique weapon, which can carry you through the entire game if you so choose.

Pairing the Greatsword of Fate blade with fast handles like the Krat Police Haton handle, the Fire Axe handle, and the Wintry Rapier handle will get you through most anything.

The Booster Glaive handle is great, too. The charged heavy shoots you forward, and it's surprisingly fast to boot.

Feel free to change your handle based on the situation. The Greatsword of Fate blade is proficient in both slash and stab damage, so it works with any handle. Its only downside is its weight.

Even if Motivity is your primary damage stat, it seems high for the part of the game you're at. Vitality and Capacity take higher priority. Make sure you can equip the best armor available and that you're never getting two-shot. After that, you can invest in offenses and stamina.

Oh, and make sure to guard. Not just perfect guard, but normal guarding. The Greatsword of Fate blade has a high Guard Rate.

The Azure Glaive that you get for free at the start is pretty fantastic. Decently fast, great moveset, and the Fable Arts are crazy, if you can land them (they basically the same timing as regular parries)

Holy Sword of the Arc (from Fuoco Ergo) is a very solid weapon, with a good moveset (only if you transform into the Glaive), and a good blocking.
If you still have your boss ergo, you can get 2 great motivity greatswords later in that area.
On my motivity runs, i stick with fate until i reach the guy that trades for boss ergo, as fate just has such a great move set.
