Tyrannical Predator was kind of the low point boss-wise honestly. Basically all the same issues that the Golden Hippo in Shadow of the Erdtree has apply here as well. Bad camera angles, grab attacks that are hard to dodge, repositioning not doing enough, etc.
Markiona was pretty fun, but I feel like she was way too easy. I should face her in the boss replay a few times to get a better feel for the fight honestly.
I liked Veronique a lot. She's a tough fight, but pretty consistent once you get a hang of her patterns. She also feels like a prelude to how Arlecchino works in some ways. The only downside is that you can't get her weapon.
The Two-Faced Overseer was one of a very few fights where I think grab attacks were implemented well. He has an interesting moveset otherwise as well. I think the face-switching mechanic could have had a little more to it honestly, and the overall character design maybe needs just a little something more to it, but overall he's pretty solid.
I do not like the juvenile green monster. I get what they were trying to do by making a clear connection between a character in the DLC and the main game, and that's fun as far as it goes. The actual mechanics of the fight are underwhelming at best though, you don't get any good rewards, and it bugs me that teleportation is the only way out of the arena for some strange reason. At least it's an optional fight though.
Anguished Guardian could perhaps have used a little more time cooking. Enormous bosses are always fun from a theoretical standpoint, and he's no exception. The execution just feels a little sloppy I guess. They could have made some much more interesting mechanics out of dealing with his size, but you basically just have the options of facing him head-on or clinging to his scrotum with all your might. There's the whole horn breaking thing, but I think it would have been more interesting if it were extended a bit, making it perhaps more similar to the Rotten Greatwood fight in DS3. I also think the character design would have benefitted from either going completely alien or from leaning harder into the human look and milking the uncanny valley aspect for all it's worth. All around, mediocre IMO.
Lumacchio is interesting. His fight is far from perfect, but the devs had some interesting ideas and I'm satisfied with how they were executed. His (human) design isn't really to my taste, but it fits his characterization. The carcass form is underwhelming, but I get not going too complicated with a design that most people aren't going to study too closely. He's a slimy little creep in all ways, and beating his skull into the floor is satisfying.
I love the Arlecchino fight. Not a whole lot to say about it, it's great. I'm actually not a huge fan of his design though, it just feels formulaic I guess. It's servicible, but I just expected more after the Nameless Puppet ending out the main game with such a bang. I feel like even within the bounds of humanoid puppets they could have done better than 'metal, buff [Richard] Dastardly'. Oh, who randomly gets a couple of extra buzzsaw arms out of his back in the second phase. Lore-wise, I wish they had either cut the blood-bending thing or leaned into it harder, because as-is it feels more random than anything. It doesn't really fit with how it's been demonstrated that Ergo works or how any other power we've seen works. It's just... there. (on the same topic, don't get me started on using Ergo to restore Goddard's painting somehow either)
You seems to not have like that much fight in the DLC tho ? Or maybe you were pointing the things who could be implemented to make them better ? (for you)
I don't know, I find first phase of Lumacchio really irritating and 2nd pahse is just erratic as hell. Only boss getting to my nerves actually
I get what you're saying about Lumacchio. Being fast and erratic are kind of his strong suits and I don't think that toning down those features would make his fight any better, but maybe working on the telegraphing of his movements would have made him less frustrating.
You absolutely need to give a try for markonia in rematch boss ! She's a banger and her moveset are so pretty, I like her a lot.
I think in diff 5, she will give you trouble
rest is trash, and the Elden Ring copy is just bad because you can't dodge and not parry in close range. Did they even test the da m n game? lol
I don't think the rest were all that fun to fight, but none of them were bad. I think Markiona was one of the worst, since she shows up too early, it didn't feel like she had a lot of plot relevance, her telegraphs are a little too similar between attacks, and the puppet she throws around felt a little tanky. Still, a great fight visually.
First boss, flailing mass of hitboxes with bad camera.
Second boss camera issues, and there was also leather pants baddie somewhere in there.
Third boss npc invasion, wow.
Fourth boss its that fire shovel robot you meet within first hour in the base game, what even?
Fifth boss, of all the enemies you could bring back, you bring back the worst boss from the base game.
Sixth boss camera so bad it makes me horny for bloodborne.
Seventh boss oh wow another npc invasion.
Final boss, I kinda like this one, but either you fight it alone and its unfair, or you fight it with companion and the ai breaks and its just boring and ruins the fight.
But the presentation is amazing.
interessting , she is the reason i will never buy a dlc from this devs ever again. first boss and its a duo boss who cant stop talking while she just hyperarmor and jumps arround. man you must love to be talked to death... but what ever floats your boat.
sorry but now i have to turn on my raveparty playlist and force me through this fight ... congratz to the devs , it just took 3 tries to open spotify xD
