DLC fizzles out
I just played and beat the Overture DLC and i must say, the DLC really goes out on a low point. I liked the boss in the Zoo (though the Zoo itself was a bit too long of an area) and in general most of the DLC was pretty nice, but man. The Monad Charity House and Arlecchino were HUGE letdowns! Arlecchino was super trivial when you bring Lea along for the fight, I expected him to have a third phase and there was just a whole lot of nothing, and not to mention that everyting just kinda stops... I assume the memories of the beach would get altered and probably new dialogue with Arlecchino but I saved the DLC for late-game (which is fully reasonable IMO) so both of those events are already done and gone. The final area was really boring and filled with time-waster grunts and it's clear that Arlecchino has been nerfed beyond the intended experience because there's no way you give a puppet that much aura only for him to be such a pushover.

I expected more/better from such an expensive DLC, the areas were very pretty but the content of the DLC as a whole left a lot to be desired.

time to fight him alone in Battle Memories!

lots of special dialogue, special fatal atk animation, lots of sweeping attacks and followups designed to put pressure on you despite the summon. as far as team fights like these go it's the best I've seen it done across the genre without having actual multiplayer

and you can just refight him right afterward!!

I felt the same way.

I agree about Lea making Arlecchino a weak fight. There are a few bosses in Lies of P that are arguably harder with a specter because of how it changes boss AI. Arlecchino isn't that.

And in games like Elden Ring, many bosses fluidly switch between targets mid-combo... They're still easier with other players due to the nature of split aggro, but you don't get nearly as many 100% safe damage windows as you'd expect.

For Arlecchino, the only attack of his that comes close to that is his super attack (which I use a Perfect Grindstone for, anyway). At every other point it's safe to attack into his back. Bosses like Black Rabbit Brotherhood or King of Puppets have sweeps and behind-the-back weapon swings which seem specifically designed to catch players fighting from the back with specter at front. I feel like there's a middle-ground where they could have made him a little easier alone but act more erratically with Lea.

Oh, and another thing: Arlecchino doesn't fight as much like a madman or an artist as I expected. Something about the fight doesn't feel 'fancy' enough. And his mid-fight transformation is very silly.

Bringing npc to the fight always trivialize the fight. So if you want challenge you must go solo.

he's got plenty of big sweeps that cover his sides and back and he's got a particularly mean turnaround attack he only does if you're behind him between moves. His grabs track you so hard that they're unignorable, too

i think him not being erratic with Lea on the field is a good thing as far as a story-centric fight goes, but he is pretty easy to anklebite to death because of how powerful Lea is; unlike specters she actually does big damage and can be picked up even if she goes down again. There's definitely room for there to have been more focus on just staying alive with her only occasionally taking aggro. Would play more to what it sounds like you're interested in!

If they do something like this in the next game I think it'll be even cooler
