Difficulty is all over the place
This game just has weird unnecessary difficulty spikes and weirdly long walkbacks that exist to waste your time, especially in the DLC where you can just encounter some minibosses with 3+ minute walkbacks. Whats up with some of these minibosses having as much health as a main boss (big monkeys, ball& chain sewer dude in the DLC?)

Yes, I know that theres difficulty settings, its just that there's some enemies in the critical path that are stronger than healthbar bosses for no discernable reason, often before you unlock a shortcut or a new stargazer

If you have played Wuchang then you know what long walkbacks are and in LoP they are all on the lower side
I don't think I've dealt with any long or difficult walkbacks through the main game or DLC... I dunno...

i thought all the minibosses where placed a little after a shortcut back to the "campfires" gets unlocked. i think there's a distinct possibility that the op is talking about a specific instance that happened to them, where they either ran past the path to the shortcut back, or perhaps there was a mini-boss placed unlike how they placed the others.
they must also have glossed over the elec/acid/fire weapon effects and the relative protection amulet. they trivialize most encounters. even bosses, to an extent.
