DLC Bosses
They are all bad ... except for the alchemist thingy down in the ruins. That was a really enjoyable fight, the only one. But the rest:
  • Bad hitboxes
  • They push you into a wall so you can't see anything
  • Spamming attacks
  • Way too short windows for attacks
  • Attacks are often not really readable

And don't even get me started on Alreich... Alpechi... Alfechino? Whatever his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ name is, the final boss.

He is just the worst boss in the whole DLC, he is so freaking bad. He spams attacks, reads your inputs like a damn book, and goes straight into a combo after he just finished one, simply because you dare to heal. In fact, you can trigger him to attack 24/7 without any break just by healing or sharpening your weapon right after he finishes his combo. THAT'S how bad he is!

And just like the stalker bosses, HE WON'T SHUT UP . As someone in this forum already mentioned, his combat design is really, really bad.

The second phase is just a bad joke and shouldn't even exist. It has some cool mechanics and ideas, but again, it's way too spammy with almost no breaks for you. And one of his grabs is just... I freaking hate it. I was never able to dodge or avoid it, so whenever he used that one grab in the second phase, it was a death sentence for me. Luckily, he didn't use it in my last fight, and I was able to beat him.

And yes, I've read that the fight is way easier with Lea, but I don't like using NPCs for help. So I tortured myself and beat him without her. It wasn't fun at all.

that's a big issue with these games lately tbh, even the ER dlc

some bosses are way too spammy for what the player character can do and it just ends up feeling bad to play

First, obligatory 'git gud'. Most of your complaints unfortunately can be addressed with that. The Bosses are pretty good all around. Worst offender is probably the Tyrannical Predator pushing you into walls but that can be mitigated greatly if... y'know, you understand what's happening and position yourself so it's not a problem. Overseer also has a LOT of health and grabs from most bosses do indeed do damage. Those are the biggest criticisms that come to mind.

Secondly, Arlecchino is one of the better bosses. He's actually pretty easy BECAUSE he jumps from one set to another. The parrying mechanic favours the player greatly. His heal punish is a move I appreciated greatly because they visually indicate it to you rather than just a sudden advance that usually happens in these sorts of games. Like any 'input-reading' in these games, once you know the rules, it's often easy to exploit and makes the game easier. And they make the rules quite clear here.

Regarding his second phase, the transition is probably a tad overdone. Hard to say, once you learn to parry it, the punish windows are rather generous. Worst case, I've seen the grindstone that let's you auto parry covers most, if not all, of the transition, so you can always use that. It's supposed to be a climactic moment so I think it's fine as it is. It's definitely a hurdle in the fight but I can't say the first phase is hard enough that it's an issue.

I will also say I dislike the saws that are thrown with the follow up Fury Attack. Response to that move is a bit hard as it changes greatly depending on the distance you're at and it's the only move that gives me trouble still. However, that doesn't negate everything they've done right with this fight, and the others.

Voice-wise... eh, whatever, it's probably a bit much but I'd rather that than too little. It's only really an issue if you're frustrated while fighting him. If you're enjoying the fight, it's a welcome addition. Again, it's a climactic moment, he's a big bad who you've spent a good amount of time listening to him yap. I'd be insulted if he didn't yap a bit more. I do think his solo dialogue is a bit limited compared to using Lea but that just makes sense.

Regarding attack windows, all I can say is that I didn't have any issue using the Living Puppet Handle and the Bone-Saw Blade. I don't know if there are many slower weapons than that but if I can find charged heavy attack windows with that, you should be fine with most weapons, if not, you may need to adjust your play-style (or 'git gud' as the kids say).

Lastly, I don't know what the play is pretending to not know the characters name. They're an well established character from the game that crops up quite regularly. Worst case, it's a two second google or, hell, just a search on these forums of which you seem familiar.
This post is just trying wayyy too hard to farm clown awards lmao

Saws into fury slam is OK, but if he saws into command grab it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over for me.
