Weird bug that's shutting down graphics card?
Hey. This is maybe the black screen bug, i don't know because this is pretty extreme. I have a 5080, and 9800x3D. Shouldn't having really much problems, and only Lies of P dose this but upon booting up, it 80% of the time will full just turn off the screen. My monitor stops getting any signal, and i can't Alt-F4 or anything. I have no clue what im meant to do here, so if anyone can help. Please do. I have been able to play till recently. Last patch seems to of made it worse.

Blackwell and recent drivers are known to have severe blackscreen issues.
Try updating your drivers, and if that doesn't help I suggest testing the studio drivers, they're known for better stability.

Already have. This is the only game this is doing it to. That's the problem. No other game does this to my PC. Not even FF16. :/ It was okay sometimes, but then just..maybe 9/`10 attempts to play end up getting this problem.

Anything special with this game? DLSS Version / Settings / ReBar etc.?
Try updating the dlss.dll with DLSS Swapper or manually.

I assume you have tried repairing/reinstalling the game?

An update - I think it's something tot do with "Best" settings since an update. Something is causing the actual shader compile to be the thing that crashes my graphics card. Only this game does it. And i did try forcing the game using nvidia app to be on high setting, and that seemingly worked.

Edit - Nope. It repeats the bug after a restart. It seems now that it actually playing is the rarity, not the bug. :/

True souls-like, even PC can't handle sometimes :cozybethesda:

So, i did a bunch of testing for this. Including 10 resets to test the thing.

The Nvidia App, or drivers, are the problem. What seems to be happening is something to do with pre-rendering shaders and the Nvidia app aren't happy. Every time i want to get it working, i have to go into the app. Fully reset all the settings, and then launch from the app itself. I dont' understand it. It is very hit or miss. Maybe 1/4 loads the game correctly. :( I wish i could get more help from someone smarter than me. I'm not really good at fixing stuff, but i did do the testing to get it at least working that often.

Edit - I give up. It's the only game that does this, nothing fixes it. It might be a direct X12 issue, god knows.

If your driver ever craps out and you want to try resetting it without restarting your PC, try pressing: CTRL + WINDOWS + ALT + B

This will restart the graphics driver. May not get you past your issue but worth a shot.

Ill try to remember this ---but i found a work around.

Opening the game in Windowed Mode. If any devs get this, and i doubt they care. It's cool. This bug seems ot be if the game loads shaders while in fullscreen. It seems to want to eat the vram and crash the card. Loading in windows stops windows clearing itself from visual ram, and so stops the crash. Ive had no issues since. Loaded the game.

The downside is you can't press the F11 fullscreen load with this. If you try, it runs the risk of flooding the card again. Its' so exact, but im playing 1080p on a 28 inch screen. im fine, but just a heads up.

Playing the game in windowed mode fixed it. It's the only way i got it to work. Go to Nvidia APP, find lies of P, force it to windowed. You can fullscreen it AFTER (i think), but the start will always shut down the card.

I ended up rolling back my drivers, had the same issue with expedition 33. Whatever it is about the start up, it maxes out the GPUs capacity.

Ok now u also u pls turn off this dls and fsr bcuz it gonna be better xperience, thank me later pls. u can trust me I am #1 gamer, ok ty
