We've gotten a lot of feedback about the artstyle over the years, almost all of it very positive. It's also a fun challenge as an artist to make art in this style, and it's definitely one that I think suits the game very well!
If you're interested in making custom art for the game, you can always check out the Modding API[docs.tinylifegame.com] as, among a lot of other things, it allows overriding the game's default textures with custom ones!
