High CPU load?
When I play this game the CPU fan starts roaring like crazy, which seems odd for a game with relatively simple graphics. It means I'm not keen on playing it because it's one of those games you want to play for a long time but the wear-and-tear it causes on the system discourages this. Is there something inefficient in the update loop?

My newer PC is getting repaired, so I'm using my super old computer in the meantime and playing this game because it can't handle the others that I play lol.

That's kind of the point. It's using much more CPU than it needs to run which means that extra CPU is being wasted. In a game that often means that the render loop is running faster than it needs to and creating a large number of frames that are thrown away. Starcraft 2 had this bug when it came out so it is not an uncommon mistake!

The default framerate cap is quite high to try and reduce screen tearing without vsync. You can change either option in the settings menu.

I just found this, thanks! But gee, defaulting to 150fps on a 60fps display? Why not just turn on VSync by default? No-VSync and triple buffering is only really needed for games with AAA 3D graphics and ideally first person views.

Actually you're right, no idea why Vsync is off by default.

Because Unity wants its FPS demos and tutorials to look good :)

Set it to 60fps and vsync and it runs exactly the same with the fans as mellow as normal.
