Placement of Stairs in Campaign Editor
Hi. OK, I have figured out what my stairs are wonky in the Shimmersea Battlements mission. When you create a new map, stairs cannot be dropped down in elevation lower than the starting base level of the map. They physically can be dropped down one elevation in the editor, but when the mission is played the editor does not remember that the stairs have been dropped down one elevation. When the mission is reopened in the editor, the stairs have popped back up to the level of the base elevation. I'm not sure if this is expected behaviour or a bug?

Anyway, in order for my stairs to appear flush with the floor, I have to elevate the entirety of my floor by 1 level (except for the stairs). Non stairs tiles can be decreased by 1 elevation versus the starting base level of maps without issue. Stairs cannot.

When you say the starting base level of the map, do you mean elevation 1? The thing is, elevation -1 isn't supported by the engine; and that's the elevation you'd need your stairs to be at to be flush with floors at elevation 1. To get stairs at elevation 1 going down that are flush with the floor, you'll want to raise the floor's elevation to 3. This is how it's handled in Bandit Fortress Entrance.

Yes, sorry, the base elevation is 1. I can then push floor tiles down to level 0. I can then build stairs on those level 0 tiles and then decrease the elevation again (which says elevation 0 on the stairs but must actually be elevation -1). So while the stairs then look flush with the floor that is elevation 1, when I play the mission the floor that the stairs are on are pushed back up from elevation -1 to elevation 0. It makes sense now.

I have now built the entire floor up to elevation 2 so the stairs can be flush with the floor. This should be visually fixed with the next upload.
