you buy them, but they don't really make a world of difference
you'll be happier having a buttload of basic rods than a few high end ones and them snapping just the same

Oh, I see. I'm trying to befriend a cat by feeding it fish, but it seems to hate the ones I give it or just doesn't really like them so I thought maybe I need a better rod to catch better fish.

The cat behind the tavern? It only eats purple tier fish.

the pedlar in the nameless village when you have tier 4 or tier 5 fishing will let you buy 5 yellow fishing rods and then give you the build book for it. at 2500 each.

but as stated 10 to 20 of the basic one with a few blue is good enough, for most people needed. you only really need the yellow one for carry over till the next time you can't buy an other 10 basic ones. they all brake, so it a cost v rewards. basic are just going to be so much cheaper in the long run.

once you have given the cat 5 purple tier fish you unlock the ability to feed it as you would any pet. so you no longer require only purple fish from that point on.

No, It can eat blue and green tier as well. Purple fish just maxes relationship faster.

ive feed it other fish and it got very angry with me.

but once ive feed it 5 purple fish i could then feed it any fish i had much like some of the other tame critters.
