Wandering Sword Free DLC question

if i dont want any of the 2 dlc char from wandering sword to join my team, is it the dlc can still progress?
i like to play solo char.

You can choose to kick him out after the story.

em...That depends....
They won't be in for the main story but there is a side story about one of them which cannot be proceeded without him.
