It is very reproducible but it has a work around. You need a controller!
There are 2 locations in Nameless Village where you can definitely replicate it or at least I have.

Spot #1 Tree next to the well where the kids gather. You cannot get the (Legendary) "Thunderstruck Wood" if you are using a keyboard/mouse. But if you use a controller and face the tree, you will be able to press "A" button and get it.

Spot #2 The abandoned house where the miner is mining. In the house the double stove, there are two hole where coal would go for cooking food. Using a keyboard/mouse you CANNOT get the coal in the stove but if you use a controller and face each station, you can get a "coal" from each.

Bonus issue is that in that same abandoned house it is not possible with either keyboard/mouse or controller to get whatever is on the workbench.
