bug in abandoned sawmill where it teleports you back to end portal
so, known bug, if you kill boss before, say, getting the robot head, you can't get back into the area again cause it --stupidly-- teleports you to the end portal.

so yeah, that has and always will be the stupidest bug in entire game because
1) I fell for it like when the game came out
2) I fell for it like 2-3 years ago when I replayed
3) AND I JUST FELL FOR IT AGAIN JUST NOW (yes I am stupid)

this level tho sorta funnels you that direction and if you're not paying attention, you'll hit it like I did.

Yes, you can make a lan game, reroll world and go through it again, but one big caveat. It rerolls the ENTIRE world. all the levels now are reset which really pisses me off cause I'm fairly certain that I not only did all three above things, but I am fairly certain I reset everything each time as well and I am just besides myself with utter shame.

I'll be in the corner, with the dunce cap, alongside relic, for the time being... sigh

Interesting. Are you saying that if you just reroll that one dungeon by visiting several other dungeons and coming back to the Sawmill, it still won't let you get the robot part? Because I seem to remember doing that after I finally figured out that it was the skeletons that I needed to click on, and not the journals, to get the gate to open. Or perhaps I just re-entered the dungeon and found all the skeletons and the gate finally opened. It was years ago, so I can't remember for sure what I did.

I'm playing a character right now that will probably get up to that spot later today, so I'll deliberately not click on skeletons, kill the boss, use the exit portal and try coming back in and getting the robot part, just to test the issue.

yeah, that was my point. you can reroll the world in LAN and go back through that map

you start back at the camp/town for the correct act, so you just have to run over to area entrance, even tho it's not listed as a quest destination anymore.

my issue was that doing so, resets all the levels (I only checked the two areas around there and they were completely new for me again, so if I feel like going through one, I'll have to clear it again, which I assume is same for every level that I've gone through.

my biggest issue with the whole thing is wondering why in the hell did they do that TP as you enter the level bit. I can't think of a single example of that happening before and the only thing I can think of is that they can't just turn back on that little blue teleport you step on, thus they did this. but it's aggrivating that it happens there of all places, where you might have to go back and do the skeltons.

also, like I said, it sorta funnels you in the direction of the boss fight instead of the roundabout way of getting to the other part of the map with skeleton or two, so yeah... I'm stupid to step on that blue tp knowing I hadn't gone through the entire map just yet.

I'm saying you shouldn't have to create a LAN game and reroll the entire world. Just get that particular dungeon to reset, by visiting 3 other dungeons, and then coming back to the Sawmill. However, I think you can actually just go back into the "cleared" dungeon (from the entrance), and make sure you tapped on all the skeletons and the gate should open for you to collect your robot part. I'm not quite to that part of the game with my character yet, but, as I said I will be testing this in a few hours to see if I am correct. If not, no biggie for me, since this is an NG+ character and already (through drops gotten by other characters) has some endgame gear and a level 105 legendary weapon.

Okay, i just did the sawmill. I made sure to leave one skeleton. I killed the boss. I went thru the exit portal. I re-entered the dungeon. And..... you're right! As you try to walk over the bridge near the entrance, the game teleports you to the boss arena again.

So, just to make sure - I went back in. And..... it did not teleport me to the boss arena this time.

I tapped on the last skeleton, collected my robot part and left. Now we know the solution:

Just re-enter the dungeon twice, and you will be able to get your last skeleton(s) and collect the robot part.

oh trust me, I tried everything

* I tried re-entering that area like 8-10 times, reloading game, quitting to main menu, everything
* I tried placing a portal down and quitting /reloading
* I tried someone's tip to try walking near the edges to see if the teleport doesn't happen.

didn't matter. everytime I passed some imaginary line, boom, teleport.

dunno the magical trick you used but it didn't work for me.
I am playing modded with synergies, so maybe that has something to do with it...

I re-entered after killing the boss. When I tried to cross the bridge, I got teleported to the boss room. I went out the exit portal again. I re-entered a 2nd time. This time, I waited a bit. Then, I slowly moved toward the bridge, pausing a few times. I slowly crossed the bridge. Again, pausing a few times. No problems doings that, so I just ran through to see if the gate was still closed. It was. I went back to the skeleton that was still standing and clicked on it, and then ran back to the gate to find it open and the robot part was there.

I did not put any portals down, and I did not do a "quit" to the main screen, and I did not exit the game and restart it. I think, perhaps, pausing at the entrance, once I was back in the dungeon, is what made the difference.

I can't remember if the skeletons reset when the dungeon is reset, but maybe I'll try to reset the dungeon and see if I can get it to do the teleporting trick again, and try to get it to do that multiple times by running quickly from the entrance each time. I'll report back and let you know what happens.

Hah! Confirmed! Running too fast is what causes the teleport to the boss room when you re-enter. Oddly, after resetting the dungeon, I got the full reset, with a new robot part and all. However, here's what I did:

1) Visited 3 dungeons in the Salt Barrens.
2) Replayed the reset Sawmill, leaving all skeletons untouched. Killed the boss. Went out the exit portal.
3) Re-entered the dungeon. Oddly, did NOT get teleported - so I tapped on all but one skeleton and went to the boss room and then back out the exit portal.
4) Went back in the dungeon, but this time I quickly paced back and forth two times in front of the dungeon entrance, before I entered (I have no idea if that makes any difference - probably not) and then entered the dungeon and ran as fast as I could (my character has speed gems on it) to the bridge and got teleported.
5) Repeated the above 4 more times to make sure, and was teleported to the boss room all 4 times.
6) Finally, entered the dungeon again and waited about 5 seconds before moving. Took a few steps and paused, a few more steps and paused, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, until I'm at the end of the bridge. Tapped on the final skeleton and went to the box inside the opened gate and then to the boss room and out the exit portal. My quest log seems fine. It shows 4 robot parts, and I'll get the 5th from Cacklespit's Realm.

I have continued to explore this bug. I tried to get the game to teleport me a few more times, and had trouble getting it to do that, no matter how fast I ran. Next, I tried having my character run a curved path slightly up or down from the entrance to the the bridge, instead of just making a straight path over to it. Again, all while running as fast as I could as soon as I was ported into the dungeon. I was finally able to get the teleport again when I had my character run slightly upward and then toward the bridge. I repeated this several times, and then I stopped getting teleported to the boss room, no matter what I did.

Conclusion, either the teleport occurs from running too fast upon re-entering the dungeon, or it comes from moving your character in a slightly upward curve before heading to the bridge, or it's just a random effect that happens to repeat itself several times or more once the loop first goes into effect. I still recommend pausing at the entrance and moving slowly to the end of the bridge, since I've never gotten the boss-room teleport when I've done that.

the stupid thing about this bug is that like, in the very next area, you end up with the teleport back/forth to get near ember mines. meaning, why the hell did they go through all this trouble cause they had chosen to disable the teleport to ensure you got the boss monster AND THEN ALSO secure that same area with the robot quest at same time. smh, not a clue.

anyways, my reasoning for posting this in the first place was to acknowledge my stupidity, hoping that somehow in a couple years when I play it through again, I'll remember this post instead of falling for it a fourth time.

HiFive you are a lifesaver . This post just brought me out the OCD Hell i found myself in. I literally couldn't move on with the game without getting this done.
