Maybe it's also bcos I'm not a min-maxer; I just build whatever seems fun (I use mods a LOT) and if its not working I just start a new char
Had 3 Engineers, an Embermage, and a Berserker.
Mods and getting involved with Mod Feedback is what kept me faithful to TL2 all these years later.
I also agree that farming is extremely boring after awhile. Best to play mods that make it much easier to acquire those necessary affixes to make builds viable.
Also to expand the end-game challenges -
- TL2 Vanilla needs much of that to boost the Replay-Value.
Perfectly normal what you're experiencing. It's the desire to make the features enjoyable to keep replaying and mods tend to help with that.
Concerning mods, I love that mods exist and make the game thrive, but for some reason I have a strong aversion to using them myself. I feel like any progress made using mods "doesn't count" or "never happened" so to speak. It's more of a feeling, but it's not one I can shake. And like I said earlier, adding mods would remove the familiarity which is the reason I play at all right now.
EDIT: Steam doesn't know about the 7,000 hours I played the game before I joined Steam.
I'm definitely not a min/max person. I enjoy trying out all sorts of different ways to play, trying all the different difficulty levels, all the different characters, giving myself arbitrary challenges that I make up, and exploring every nook and cranny of every map. I don't like to grind at all on any game because it's boring to do that. Adding mods to TL2 was a big game-changer. So much new stuff to explore! The Workshop for this game has tons of mods and I especially enjoy finding good new classes to try out.
The way I play Torchlight 2 isn't even how I play most games. I just really like min/maxing in it because the mechanics and stats really work for me. The only problem is the farming and enchanting. Thankfully, I took some time off from the chores and just played and I'm feeling better for now.
i literally suck at ARPG and just putting points into what i like about the skill description / name / clueless about how gear / skills combine works best
i think you would be crazy good at playing games like DOTA 2
are you interested in having another go at the game to carry me clear the game on hardcore elite achievement ?
I don't play on Hardcore anymore.
So sad …. For someone played thousands of hours it should be easy for you to clear the game on hardcore for me
On a brighter note, I just got another Skull of Limoany, so now I'm at 9 out of the 11 I need for my Outlander. It's only taken a little over a week so far.
It’s not pathetic
The last game I have the willpower to be dedicated to the same game like you was EverQuest 1 from 20 years ago
I think the next would be monsters and memories
