Windows 7: game crash on startup. Please help. :(
Hello there.
I'm dealing with a startup error and maybe someone can help me, since developers aren't responding to my email! :(

Let me start by saying that I've been playing this game on this same laptop with zero issues for weeks.

Now, as soon as I launch the game, the following error happens:

FATAL ERROR
An unknown error occured, causing this application to shut down.
If the problem persists, please contact the developer at
http://www.twotribes.com/support

So far:
- I have checked game integrity via steam. Nothing wrong there.
- I have uninstalled/installed again the game several times.
- I have deleted Toki Tori 2 registry key AFTER unistalling it, before installing it again.

I don't know what else I could try.

I'm on a laptop:

Same story. I have played a demo of this game before and it have works well

After we have deleted our saves (Steam\userdata\YOUR-ID\201420\) and turned off cloud saves, problem have been solved.

1) In your Steam Library, right-click on Toki Tori 2 and select "Properties."
2) Click the "Updates" tab.
3) Uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Toki Tori 2."

Please tell me if it will solve your problem

I did as you ask, it didn't work.
So I tried uninstalling the game, I installed it again, made sure there was no save game folder, made sure the cloud was off.
Sadly, it didn't work. :(

Once again, I get this error:

Could it be there's some leftovers in the registry?

Sorry, I have no ideas then :(
I guess my problem was in saves from Toki Tori 2 Demo that full version trying to use. Sadly, I don't know anything else that could be helpful in this situation.

About a year later, still dealing with this problem. Any hope the new update might help me?
I still get that Fatal Error and the error signature is identical to the one I posted.

Have you tried to "Verify Integrity of Game Cache":

(It can help even after a fresh install.)

When the problem first happened, had your video card recently had a driver update (either manual or automatic)? Open Device Manager, look in Display Adapters, double-click your card and find the "Roll Back Driver" button to go back to a previous version.
Or go to the AMD website and download a different version of the driver (either newer or older).
