Possible Bug With Mole Hills
When going through areas "out of order", the mole isn't appearing in any of the mountain areas on the right side of the map.

See this screenshot for example, that is immediately after walking through and doing those ice-room puzzles for the second time. After the second time through these areas, the mole didn't appear in the caves after that, or across the waterfall puzzles on the other side of the ice room.

It seems to have started around the waterfall protected by four large birds. When I first passed through this area, I snuck past the birds to get to the dark area below before reaching the matching mole-hill in front of the ice cave. That's the first mole-hill that stopped working.

Those mole hills trigger when you've reached the lowest part of the island. Am I right in assuming you haven't been there yet?

I've been to the beach, completed "detour", and deposited all collectible wings. I haven't gone through the door that is unlocked by the deposits.

It's that set between the waterfall birds and the mole-hill above that don't open up.

Also, I remember that when I first went past the four birds in the waterfall, I took a gate that led here: here
That mole-hill opened then even though I hadn't visited its match far to the left, or been to the beach. All I had done in the game since deleting my save data was go straight there.

I had the same problem with some mole hills. For me, the one to go up the mountain for one of the collectable deposits didn't open, until I did the puzzle again.

I thought my issue might be like this, but by now I've gone through these areas at least three times each and the shortcuts still haven't opened.
