Can't go forward, can't go back

Hi! Just got the game, so I don't know what the area is called and don't know how to describe the location. Here are some screenshots of the part I'm stuck in:

This is where I'm trying to go forward. Area with two birds, and a couple of fireflies. Can't figure out a way of getting up to the topright (or topleft, or wherever I'm supposed to go). I can see there
are frogs and one of the bugs the frogs eat to make bubbles, but the frogs are too high up and I can't even being the little bug close to them. Closest I can get the bug is to the wall adjacent to the ladder on the left.

I eventually gave up on the puzzle and tried going back, but unfortunately to get here I needed to bring a light source with me, and I can't bring a light back, so I can't get past the mask. I can't figure out a way of getting past the mask without a firefly either.

Any help for how to go in either direction? Thanks! :)

In the 2nd picture, you can not go left, you can only progress to the right. Keep in mind that berry bugs (glowing or normal) will cling to walls if you stomp them when they are close to walls, that will help further to the right if I remember correctly.

Regarding the 1st picture, there are frogs to the left and berry bugs to the right. You need to bring both to where Toki is in the picture. The birds need to see creatures in order to grab them and carry them to the nest. Fireflies will come to you if you whistle and move away from you if you stomp. Those clues should hopefully be enough to get you to the exit. Bonus points if you can get higher up than that!
