Can't exit camera bird

I've just been introduced to the camera bird, and after taking some pictures, I wanted to continue playing [as Toki Tori]. However, I don't know how to exit the camera bird mode, and after taking photos of everything there's visible on screen, restarting the game and trying various other things, I believe I'm stuck.

Does anyone know how to exit the bird? Do I need to take more pictures? After I've taken a photo, it shows the Tokidex, where I press the back button, and I am still controlling the camera bird, until I've taken another photo, have seen it in the Tokidex, pressed the back button etc.

Pressing the Stomp button should cancel out of the camera-bird.

Yes, just press the stomp / cancel button again and the camera bird goes away.

Sometimes after pressing the stomp/cancel button, the camera bird would stay in its final position. After moving Toki Tori or the camera, the bird would remain fixed over whatever part of the background it was at before. It was as if its "fly away" animation never occurred, but otherwise the game behaved normally. I don't know what caused it.
