"MAX POWERUPS" achievement guide
You need to get ~3000 powerups in ONE run. This is approximately 15 planets.
It's almost impossible to do it at late stages of the game because of too big difficulty and rare planets spawn rate.
First of all you need to Reset your profile. The best way to do it, without losing game progress is to move save file (record.dat) from game directory (\Steam\steamapps\common\RBS\) to another place, and just put it back after you got this achievement.
It look like difficult of the game is depending on average progress. So the first 20 - 40 of runs you should killing yourself immediately. Then you could make few runs to collect stars. You need to upgrade RADIOSHIELD on 50%-75%, and add one point to CLAYMORE to deal with fog event.
Start new run when all preparations are done. DON'T shoot anything, and just avoid enemies. Try to have as less score as possible. If you doing all right, you won't get bosses for all the run, but you will getting planets!
The rest is a matter of time.

I've got 1109 powerups in one of the runs but achievement haven't unlocked for me.

Probably it's required to increase all the bonuses till some level instead of getting some fixed amount of powerups in total.

I haven't tested it a lot. There are no any guides or good advices about getting this achievement, so I've only wrote the way I got this achievement myself.

I just unlocked it on my first planet of the run. I didn't look at the total at the end of the run, but it wasn't very high since that was my only planet. My total powerups are 10287.

Big thanks for a workaround. 800 powerups was enough for me.

I got this by playin marathon, with 2x power up. My cumulative powerup at the moment was around 9k

I follow what this guy said and it worked.

OK, I got all the achievements.
MAX POWERUPS - I guess all you need to do is to gett 100 powerups in one run, by digging planets. I don't know if buy the magnetcoil temporary upgrade helps, but I got it when I did."
I bought the magnetcoil and RADIOSHIELD, classic mode, 3 to 5 planets and dropped the achievement, 400 powerups.

I have done that or more in many runs and am sitting at around 15k total powerups and have yet to receive the ach... very annoying

I finally got it but don't have a true answer as to how it was done other than my suspicion that it is somehow related to a certain number of powerups gained during a single dig. I have a screen shot of my stat page and from my post run summary for the one where I got the achievement if anyone wants to look into it. I got it on a run that went relatively far and mid way through a rather large planet dig, hitting various powerups while doing so. Maybe its like 10 powerup bubbles gone through in a single dig?

I'm still confused on the Max Powerups achievement. It seems like I've done it all. I wish the developer made them less mysterious because even those who've gotten them don't know how they did.
