Probably a little trickier but... Tempest would cool.
That's a Namco title.
A Space Invaders that starts out exactly like the original and then: slowly begins to morph into a modern variant.
Perhaps entertain the thought of Missile Command type levels to stop the 'Alien Ships' and follow this through to the Asteroid 'style' encounter but with updated graphics perhaps ships until one reaches the final BOSS of whatever that could be.
Within this 'imagined' game the devs could release them all inclusive with separate individual games for the player to enjoy and to hopefully complete the full game.
Or play around with this above scenario with set past games modernised and interpreted differently.
An accumulation if you will of the past greatest games made by Atari into one new regenerated offering :)
