Game Doesn't Run! What do I do?
I've gotten several reports of Steam having problems running the game. You click on the game, but it doesn't actually launch.

If you get this, it's probably that Steam is having trouble installing OpenAL. Try this:
  • Right-click the game in Steam and choose Properties
  • Go to the Local Files tab
  • Press Browse Local Files
  • Go to _CommonRedist\OpenAL\2.0.7.0
  • run oainst.exe
Let me know if that helps.

If that fails, email me at support@rocketbeargames.com

Hi, game run and crash with BSOD because of your version of oalinst.exe.
When I try to use OpenAL32.dll from link you provide in this thread
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/204530/discussions/0/846958001157754334/
game didn't start at all.

If I run oalinst.exe it returns newer OpenAL32.dll, now game start... and crash with BSOD.
So it seems version of OpenAL32.dll in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Infested Planet" is corrupted and leading to BSOD.
And same time game didn't start with "normal" (different OpenAL32.dll).

Do something please. It crash with Blue screen of death 3 times last hour. I still cant finish first mission.

Sorry about this - I bet that you have a Creative sound card and their OpenAL drivers are glitchy.

There's a fix, though! Send me an email at support@rocketbeargames.com and I'll send you a new version of OpenAL32.dll that should work ok.

You are right. Creative Audigy 2 it is. Sent you an email.

Hi RocketBearGames,

I've got the same problem - BSOD. I have Creative Audigy 2ZS sound card.

I'm going to send you an email to get a proper version of OpenAL32.dll.

Thanx that works! Looks like nice game when no BSOD :) !
Why not to put this "time solution" to forum top? I mean link to normal dll and instructions where to put it?

Should not be a problem because of it's open source license?

If you get this, it's probably that Steam is having trouble installing OpenAL. Try running Steam\steamapps\common\Infested Planet\_CommonRedist\OpenAL\2.0.7.0\oalinst.exe This will install OpenAL manually.

If that fails, email me at support@rocketbeargames.com

We send 2 times a pr email and your support did not forwarded it.

It's all just me SalzStrange. The only forwarding that happens is from my eyeballs to the brain.

If you do not like us. just give us a response so we do not need to write 3 times... that is not very professionell. Of course you re not a marketing guy and i can forgive you. But you should think about it;)

This installer shouldn't be a part of the Steam package any more.

Hi I am getting the OpenAL: alcOpenDevice failed problem, is there a solution now that the installer is now not a part of the steam package?

I have tried and found openAL installer, but it does not solve the issue.

Send me an email at support@rocketbeargames.com and I'll be able to troubleshoot the problem in detail. It'd be great if you included details of your audio setup. What sort of sound card do you have? Do you currently have speakers or headphones connected?
