Sorry that the game is misbehaving.

Can you post a screenshot of the game? I'd like to find out whether it's a display problem or a mouse problem.

For reference, my cursor is actually on Memento Mori in this screenshot. I'm having the same problem but only since I got the planetary campaign DLC

Is there a way to change the game's settings from outside the game? As it stands, I can't access the settings menu because of the mouse problem. I think the game is displaying in one resolution but the UI is in another resolution or something?

Can you try switching to windowed mode to see if the problem still happens? I assume that you're in fullscreen mode.

I wish I could but I can't get to the menu because of the aforementioned mouse difficulties. Is there an XML I'm missing that I can edit outside the game? Or a keyboard shortcut that forces windowed mode?

There's a file called pref.xml in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Rocket Bear Games\Infested Planet

If you can't find the AppData, type %LOCALAPPDATA% into the Run box on windows.

Deleting this file will reset all settings to default.

Oh wow, well, that worked like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ charm. So for whatever reason, the pref.xml had my screen resolution set at a higher resolution than I normally run it at. I edited the file to my actual screen height and width and all the buttons line up with my cursor now.

No idea what caused the change, I was previously running Infested Planet at 1600 X 900, but after getting the global campaign DLC it was swapped to 1920 X 1080. If it helps, the 1920X1080 is my monitor's native resolution, I just run it lower.

If you need any further info, ask away, but that solved this one for me, thank you very much!

Yay!

I still can't reproduce it on my end though. Grrr.

So the problem happened when the game resolution was higher than the desktop size? Was this in fullscreen mode or windowed?

I had been in fullscreen mode at the time. Give me a day or so, soon as I can I'll futz about with the settings menu within the game and the xml and see if I can narrow down what set of circumstances are leading to the problem.

Woa oO Dman miss to look over here. Thx, will try it too:)

Okay, sorry about how long that took, but it's been a nuts week. Anyway, here's what I've been able to put together

Game options set for 1600 X 900, prefs file set for 1920 X 1080, fullscreen true
- Problem occurs. Cursor does not match on screen position
Game options set for 1920 X 1080 prefs file set for 1920 X 1080, fullscreen true
- Problem occurs, game appears to be running at 1600 X 900, buttons unreachable
Game options set for 1920 X 1080, prefs file set for 1600 X 900. fullscreen true
- Problem absent, game appears to be running at 1600 X 900

When launching windowed, problems do not appear regardless of options or prefs.xml

So, changing the resolution in game works fine, game cursor matches displayed position, game plays at 1920 X 1080. If closed and reopened, however, cursor mismatch occurs. Checking the prefs file, it is still set at 1920 X 1080, but the opened game appears to be displaying at 1600 X 900.

Regardless of the prefs.xml setting, the game always seems to open at the default desktop resolution: 1600 X 900. The problem occurs when the prefs file is set to a different resolution than the game, and then only in fullscreen. Swtiching to windowed mode seems to solve the problem in general.

Again, sorry for the delay, but I hope this helps you out in narrowing it down. For me, I think the update somehow changed the prefs file to my monitor's native resolution, but the game always launches at my desktop resolution. Maybe something steam is doing is choosing that resolution?

Thanks for the detailed info. I'll see if I can reproduce it.
