Making the Season Mode game harder?

Is there any way to make the Season Mode game harder?

Even if you start as the worst team - Night - you will be 5th in the first year and will win the Constructors' Championship by 1972 (Year 3). Generally your progression will be 1970 5th, 1971 3rd, 1972 1st.

The only way I can think of is if you force yourself to keep the same team members.

Yeah I agree. It also feels like your decisions don't have much effect on the race outcome because the teams' power levels are so huge.

There's no way in the vanilla game at the moment, but we're continuously working to improve the balance and considering changes. Thanks for your feedback!

In the meantime, it's possible through mods. I know a few community members are working on mods that increase difficulty or slow down progression, but I don't think any of them are released yet.
