So Confused about this Ariane Combo

Hey guys I was just playing dungeon mode and its a nice way to play with cards I don't normally pick but this combo has me stumped..

I was going for an ariane 1 base attack type of deck since a lot of cards that came up were of that and one of my combo's was using "Crawling Hand" to "Skeletal Mage"

When I did that combo, it didn't go through even when I had 1 base attack when starting it. Can someone explain ?

Temporary attack counts toward base attack for the round in which you get the temporary attack and until the end of the next slot. So, when you killed the creature, you technically had 4 base attack.
