Do you have an idea for a better system? The devs do a good job listening to feedback so feedback away. (I know Hearthstone at the very least has the same system in place where everyone starts back at the begining with only a little bonus to give a boost to highest level players.)

Perhaps, although better is a subjective term. Diamond and Plat ranks could drop back to gold and all start at Gold 40 (or some variation if you wanted some higher players to be higher gold ranks). Then gold, silver, and bronze would drop back into bronze/high silver. I'm a pretty casual player and ended at gold 30 last season. The box that pops up said that ranked in the top 7% of players. I'm not sure if I believe that, but that would likely mean that plat and diamond players are at least the top 3-5%. It makes sense to me that they don't need to re-climb through silver and just make it difficult for newer/causual players. Just my opinion though.

a) I finished around plat 20 or something, and I was listed in the 1%
b) Usually the new season tends to be around a new meta, so it only makes sense to have to climb back up. How long pre-season change did the nerfs happen? Maybe 2 weeks? On top of that, it's not fair for someone trying to climb the ladder to get to the top to be pushed back so much further than people already at the top. Give it a few days, platinum and diamond players will get out of bronze and silver, and you'll be okay.

The majority of accounts in the game are inactive and are at the lowest rank
