Playing for more HP is better than Defense once that reaches an amount of let's say 20-35k, you're good. You'll have more effective hit points and survive longer.
I've removed all defensive mods and still sitting at 57.7k defence. So I guess I'll put extra duration on or something..
Oh, modules? Today you should play without any HP or DEF modules for most content, one HP module for Void Erosion Purge - most descendants. Of course there's specific builds like Gley that work differently, you play double HP modules for all content, or Serena for her buff that scales with Max HP. Shield builds, entirely different thing again.
Let me give you an example - my tankiest descendant for purges is Gley, with her 40k HP and 40k DEF. Know those missiles that aimbot at your head, very strong? Can tank two of those.
Remember that Jaybers turrets deploy at 100% of his def and hp, he needs to be quite tanky so they survive.
No actually, I don't play him... I know pretty much nothing about how he works, I got him, leveled to 40 and dismissed him. Still, once again, Purge is pretty much the top content right now and Gley at 40k HP 40k DEF survives not only the little gun fire, even two of those headshot missiles. If you play anything under Purge, this is still all you'll ever need.
Okay, I'm not sure whether you've hit MR18 yet to unlock cores on weapons and external components? If you did, roll those into gold. Without any modules on most sets you'll sit a bit over or under 10k HP and meet the DEF requirement, it'll sit in the 37k-39k ballpark. Without any modules on your build, I need to stress this. So if you scale this with only one HP module (or two for Purge maybe) you should be set.
