[?] Reactor power priority?
New to the game...

When looking at the various Skill Power values shown in a Reactor's stats, what is more important, the value of the "Skill Power" at the top, or the values of the "Skill Power when equipped"?

Also, is there any advantage in using a Reactor that matches your element, or can you just go with the one that gives you the most Skill Power?

They are all super important and you should have all boxes checked for a completed build.

Rare exceptions are only maybe weapon builds with gley or Serena where skill mounting doesn't matter

Sure, that would be the ideal end goal. But while I am still advancing and changing out my gear as I progress. Which one is more important, the "Skill Power" value, or the "Skill Power when equipped"?
Well if you are a new player and still playing through normal mode I guess the right weapon mounting and matching elements will still make a big difference. You get 60% skill power boost after all, so maybe prefer a reactor with the right mounting before a few more points of skill power.

But I'd say don't worry too much about it as long as you can beat the content.

Before you get level 100 gear you won't keep your equipment for too long anyways.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. Thanks :happy_yeti:
Another related question. Is it just a visual bug when the [Optimisation Condition] is "greyed out" even though I have the weapon in question equipped? Or is there more to it than just having the weapon equipped?

This is for late game, not for leveling, but in late game you want the "skill power when equipped" and you'll be wanting to pay attention to what types of abilities your descendant has (tech, fusion, etc) to match them properly

But yeah, seems like you're still in the leveling stages, so don't worry about it too much for right now

Eventually you'll be adding things to your reactor which allow you to switch your weapons freely while still having the bonuses

So for example, my Freyna has a reactor which boosts her tech ability, since her 1 ability is a tech ability, and I added things to allow it to be used with a assault rifle, a hand cannon, and a tactical rifle

That part you have to be holding the weapon IN your hands (it's a weird translation thing)

So if it says "submachine guns" it's only when you're actively using it, which is why in the late game, you're going to want to add on conditions so that you can run three weapons, three conditions, be able to switch between them whenever you want and you'll still get the buffs

Also just discovered the key-words "Mounted" Vs "Equipped". I thought it was just another one of the hundreds of cases of bad writing in the game, but it turns out it plays a big role here :dazed_yeti:

They have really made it way more complicated than it has to be haha :steamlaughcry:

Yeah, if it says "Mounted", you need to be holding the mentioned weapon in your hands, and if it just says "Equipped", it is enough to just have it as one of your 3 equipped weapons :happy_yeti:

Most everyone cleared it up. Simply put, while leveling up, it helps to have matching reactor element, but you are going to swap it out every day you play probably because you just need the strongest reactor you get.

Once you are getting gear level 100 reactors though, then it matters more.

You would like matching element reactors to the descendants you use them on. You would prefer the type of reactor that buffs damage abilities your descendant uses. And you start paying attention to the buffs at the bottom much more.

The equipped weapon buff does specifically only work when you have that weapon equipped. So if it's submachine gun buff, if you are holding your sniper rifle, you won't have the buff even if the submachine gun is in one of your other slots. But you don't worry too much about this because you can change the weapons it tracks and can set it up to have your three equipped weapons so that you always have the buff. Definitely don't worry about this until after you are doing the hard mode content.

As for the buffs to abilities, those are harder to deal with. You can raise their stats after you have reactors, but it can get resource intensive, so when you actually farm reactors for specific buffs, you probably want to set the junk filter for purples or it's going to get very expensive to level up reactors.

Overall though most of those extra features are for when you are trying to get the best out of your descendants for most of the most difficult content. Matching element and skill type is good enough if you aren't going for everything.
Thank you everyone for your replies, it helped a lot. As a new player, this game can seem a bit overwhelming and at times it feels like I have spend more time looking things up than I have actually been playing the game 😅
