Controller not working outside of menus

Starting today randomly my xbox 360 controller only works in menus. The controller works in the main menu but once I'm in the game proper I can't move. If I open the pause menu with the keyboard the controllers works but going back to the game it stops working. Is this happening to anyone else? I already tried resetting all controls despite never changing them in the first place.

Have you tried reassigning the controls instead of just resetting them?

I fixed the problem. Windows was registering my controller as player two for some reason. I troubleshooted that issue and my controller works with the game again. btw love the game :3

what did you do to fix it? the gameis unplayable handheld on steam deck because of this issue
