Does this pick up again after Level 4?
I mostly really enjoyed Levels 1, 2 and most of 3, but some of the stage design and gimmicks in 4 just get on my nerves.

The hidden tiles don't really add anything and are just annoying if you miss some and you're stuck sitting on an island of cleared tiles like "where the ♥♥♥♥". The ghost enemies are obnoxious, yeah they're still kind of visible when they're "invisible" but I have trouble seeing them if I'm coming around a 90 or especially 180 degree bend. The sticky tiles are annoying and so is how the moving floors are used in a lot of these levels. Enemy spawn rates feel really high even on the levels that do shower you with weapons to use.

I'm not usually a puzzle game guy so maybe this is all just a skill issue but man does level 4's stage design feel like a different game to me, very stop-and-start, messy, drawn out and just not as fun.

Yeah, World 4 is one of my least favourite.

It feels more like a late game world than even World 5 and 6.

But be careful, each worlds have a different gimmick.

I'll stick it out, then. I hope the later Worlds have less HUGE stages with tiles that need to be stepped on twice as well, good lord these ones are tedious.

The worst are the reverse tiles where you cannot go twice over or else they come back to their initial state.

But don't worry, at least the game isn't excruriatingly hard.
The later levels have enemies that are more interesting than the ghosts. Keeping track of multiple enemy movement patterns and speeds is a skill you need to develop to get better at this game, but if you asked me I'd say the enemy spawns only get more obnoxious as the game goes on.

Sometimes you have multiple instances of very dangerous enemy types at once and, even when you kill one, another might spawn immediately after which can feel extremely unfair.

Strangely the last level is somehow easy.

as ikagura has said, level 4 is a nightmare. half of it is due to inexperience but half of it is due to silly gimmicks
as you play you'll get a lot better at circumventing the shenanigans. i believe in you

I think the whole "hidden tile" mechanic could've been done better (like those transluscent effects you could see in Mario 3D World when you get close enough).

Alright, I came back to the game and pushed through World 4 and I'm enjoying it again. I also stopped going for 100% tile completion which was absolutely killing the fun for me and shortening my lifespan.
