Yes, why people call games "dead"?

I mean people still play decade old games even to this day.

It's probably more along the lines of "The game fell into obscurity to the point that no one will remember it."

There are a lot of timeless classics that are still fondly remembered to this day, or at least have a reputation to them that causes it to remain in the public eye for longer than normal.

However, for every "gaming gem" out there, there are dozens of games that try and fail to leave their mark on the world, thus resulting in their eventual "death".

It's a shame, this game has so much love poured into it, so much color... And yet, the gaming world hardly made a peep out of it.
Even if the game doesn’t have attention, we can all still enjoy it ourselves.
don't worry once dev releases umbrella warriors demo 2 we'll be back on the map

Breaking news: a niche indie game has remained a niche indie game
Not every indie game will be the next Undertale or Hollow Knight just appreciate it for what it is

i'm still wondering how Undertale managed to be as popular as it became.

Lots of characters with unique personality, a story, and your choices that actually matter?

Vividlope still beats the game with its cute artstyle and casual arcade-y nature, but nothing when it comes to ones listed from Undertale which most people are interested with.

I agree that sometimes when someone known pretty well shares a game.

Minecraft also gained a lot from Youtube having more let's plays and how streaming was more easily accessible.

Yeah but there were many games with these things as well. I think there's something more.

Perhaps y2k is more of a niche thing (for 22-30 years old people while most are into retro pixel art or more modern style) and puzzle games are not everyone's cup of tea either.

RPGs are still fundamentally longer than puzzle games too.

Yeah, he's still a great composer. And his Earthbound romhack could be seen as a prequel to Undertale from a game design sense.

But it makes me notice that Toby Fox isn't coming from nowhere as some told me.

PS: I have an hypothesis that the lack of any new Mother game also helped to make Undertale stand out as we don't see many RPGs inspired by it.
