It's a bug. Just reload a save game and try again. If that doesn't work, reload, but then travel to a planet, maybe get off the ship and get back on, then go to her again and try again. One of the guys who did TSLRP comments in that thread at the end and he says it may be something to do with the state the ship is in when you enter the conversation, so maybe like you used the galaxy map, then force speed ran to her and entered conversation too quick or something. Just try again slightly differently each time.

If you are using the TSLRCM mod then when you leave Telos you need to travel to another planet and leave and re-enter the ship before you start sparring with Handmaiden. I believe this is due to a bug or issue which can occur if you try and spar with Handmaiden before travelling somewhere else on leaving the Telos Academy.

POSSIBLE SPOILER

Incidentally, if you intend to make Handmaiden a jedi there are a couple of issues. First, do not get into conversation with Visas before you have made Handmaiden a jedi otherwise she may refuse to talk to you making it difficult or impossible to convert her. Second, you may wish to consider leaving Handmaiden on the ship until you reach lvl 18. That is the point at which you can complete the third sparring match with her (and the first two are easy if you are lvl 18 and she has not levelled up) and make her a jedi. If you hold off until then she gets force powers for all the levels she gains from lvl 6 rather than levelling her up as you go in which case some of her levels will be as a soldier and not gain force powers.

Even without TSLRCM, since that's a vanilla bug. Never did find out why so we just disabled sparring in hyperspace. But yeah you need to visit another planet and re-enter to be allowed to fight her properly.

I am currently trying to figure this out. After i left Telos, I went to Dantooine, did the quests there, travelled with her for some of them, went into the ship and tried the sparring option and it didnt deal any damage to her. Then I went to Nar Shadda, left the ship, went back into the ship and tried it again but it didnt work again.

I'm playing kotor 2 with tslrm 1.8.5 and I have problems with the puzzle of the planet m4-78. when I have to activate the power stations only let me activate 3 and for more than try combinations I can not activate it.

ive had that issue sometimes but most of the time i dont when doing a play through, its def a bug or something you did out of the order the game wants you to

it could possibly be cheats messing it up too, have you used the kotor save editor? if so try lowering some of your stats.
