i don't get combat in this game
playing on normal difficulty, im up against "tank droid." i've been pretty much just "improved power attack'ing" my way through the game with dual wielding two swords since those paths were recommended to be upgraded and i just went with the recommended upgrades. but "tank droid" just doesn't take any damage. it dodges all my hits and does a ton of damage to me. i don't see what i can do or where strategy is involved in this game. the combat feels really janky and i don't know what i can do to beat this enemy. so, any tips? thanks!

You can buy ion grenades or find them on the corpses of the enemies you fight. You might not be able to get them at this point since there arent any vendors on that point of telos, but if you have an earlier save and you dont mind replaying a few parts, then maybe you can do that.

Force lightning -- you have to scale into that. You might not be able to get it (I dont remember the exact level cap, I think it might be level 12 when you can skill into lightning), but the first force power is called shock (then lightning, then force storm).

I would recommend, regardless of alignment, skilling into it. You'll find force storm very handy for dealing with larger crowds of enemies later on.

Have you been auto leveling? Dont do that. Manually level up and pick your feats/powers yourself. The game doesnt do a good job of giving you levels. If so, then for feets, I recommend (especially for a melee build): finesse, max out the two-weapon fighting tree, max out the flurry tree, max out the toughness tree, max out the conditioning tree, and then max out the deflection and any other trees you might find useful. For force powers, I recommend (regardless of alignment): the cure tree, the force speed tree, the shock tree, affect and dominate mind, the deflection tree (I dont remember if this is the right one, but it allows you to deflect blaster bolts without a lightsaber), the fear tree, and the plague tree. The rest are up to you to decide what you want.

Ion grenades and force lightning. To be honest, the first half of the game, you pretty much have to rely on your other items besides main weapons. The second half -- you can just chew thru everything with a lightsaber or set of blasters.

i don't get where i get enough ion grenades or where i get force lightning from. when i fight a droid it has the "stun droid" option above it, but no force lightning or anything else there. where/how do i find my force powers?

tysm for all the info! and i've been auto leveling all my characters except for the main character that i created, but i was using the recommended upgrades manually which is probably the same as auto leveling. should i be manually leveling all my characters? cause that seems like a lot of work, and i didn't know what's best to pick before reading this.

"Recommended" is absolutely the same as autoleveling. Never do that. What "recommended" is, is simply what autolevel would have chosen.

Also you need to pay attention to what your To Hit is, and whether your STR or your DEX is the primary To Hit attribute for you. Since you're using melee, it would be STR *unless* you took the Finesse feat, then it would be DEX if it's higher.
