No EAX
As someone who has used Alchemy to optain EAX 3.0 sound features, this troubles me.

This is literally the first thing I noticed! Wonder if you can get it working with .ini tweaks.

IDK but it sucks because I have a X-FI Titanium and I really want EAX back.

Exactly the same position. I too have an XFi Titanium and its great for older games that used hardware accelerated sound,

Only reason why I could see it being removed was for the Mac and Linux versions but the game had the ability for 10 years!!!

I was trying to figure this out too, it seems even if you change the "EAX=" line in swkotor2.ini to "EAX=3" the game will override it

I doubt that they'll add it back in. Stupid unification.

I feel like we've seen this before in a couple other games that have been "updated" in the past. Its hard to fight for a feature that's deprecated and not accessible to most modern PCs, but COME ON if you're updating the game make it available through software so everyone can enjoy it, or at the very least just leave it, its not like its taking away from the game lol.

Without EAX we loose all those juicy environmental effects like reverb, and proper surround sound (not positive about that one)

Also noticed that in KOTOR1's swkotor.ini they have these lines

Environment Effects=1
Environment Effects Nonstreaming=1
Environment Effects Streaming=1

But adding these to the swkotor2.ini doesnt seem to have any effect

I sent them a ticket on their site. Ill update on here and see what they say.

Really sad that the days of hardware accelerated sound are gone because some games from the late 90s/early 2000s still sound good and better than modern games today.

Got an email from them:

Aspyr Lucy, Jul 22, 4:04 PM: Unfortunately, its not something we've tested with the new release. However, we wouldn't mind taking a look at the details.
Please reply to this email with your dxdiag attached to it so that we can further diagnose/resolve this problem.
- Open your Start Menu
- Go to the search bar at the bottom
- Type, "dxdiag"
- If needed allow the program to assign information
- Save it in TXT format
In the meantime, you can reinstall the older version using the steps below:
1. Navigate to the Steam Library.
2. Right-click on KOTOR 2 Properties.
3. Select the Betas tab.
4. From the drop-down list, select ‘legacypc’.
5. The legacy version should download.

Aspyr Support

I also sent them this thread link. So perhaps open them a ticket and send them a DXDiag report and hopefully they could add it back in.

Good to see Aspyr is being responsive with their support. Didn't know about that 'lagacypc' option thats pretty cool, although I probably wont download it cause im assuming it will remove the widescreen support.

Did you send them your dxdiag?

Yeah I sent them my dxdiag. Aye I'd imagine if you go back to 'legacypc' it will remove the new stuff.
