But, that IS your problem. Read through some of these other 100's of threads on 'Can't move' and you'll find some solutions for this issue... reducing monitor refresh rate below 90. Capping fps at a max frame rate... for you--72 fps (=1/2 of 144) etc. etc.
No this isnt the issue, Im having the same exact problem and lowering to 60 refresh and locking my fps to 60. Im still stuck after combat, I can still click on a object and move to it if im close enough, but I am not able to use the direction keys to move.
You can't simply 'lock' the fps rate in one place and expect it to work. Right click your desktop and select 'Display Settings.' Scroll down a bit and select 'Advanced Settings.' In this window you'll see an option to change your monitors refresh rate. I'm betting you have some new monitor with an absurd refresh rate. Need to choose 60 or whatever's close to that. As long as it's under 90, the game should handle it. Then you can go into your gpu's control panel and set a max frame rate limit of 60 or whatever matches the Refresh rate selection made. Then also set Vsync on. Finally, you need to open the swkotor.ini with notepad (or equivalent) and be sure it looks something like this under Graphics;
[Graphics Options]
EnableWindowedMode=1
RefreshRate=60
Height=768
Width=1024
V-Sync=1
Anisotropy=16
Frame Buffer=0
Anti Aliasing=8
Texture Quality=2
Emitters=1
Grass=1
Soft Shadows=0
Shadows=1
Brightness=60
EnableHardwareMouse=1
FullScreen=1
Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1
Note* The Refresh Rate should = whatever selection you made in earlier step *up to 90* in the Display Settings. Fullscreen 'can' be set to 0 if you intend to play in Windowed mode... which had to have that 'EnableWindowedMode=1' added in to make work.
However, some people using AMD cards do still experience some issues depending which driver they're using... and maybe some other reason(s) I've forgot about. See additional AMD threads regarding issues specific to AMD users.
Edit: Also, especially laptops, sometimes Windows will dictate an app to use onboard graphics instead of the dedicated GPU--especially in old apps that don't use much resource of modern gpu's. When that happens, it's also using whatever settings are setup for the onboard graphics--which may conflict with games. So, you can force Windows to use Dedicated graphics by Right clicking desktop, choose Display Settings, then 'Graphic options' and hit that 'Browse' button. Find the game in question and add it. Now it's in the list under Browse. Select it and hit 'Options.' Then select the 'High Performance' / dedicated gpu. Now windows knows it has to use the gpu cuz that's what the user wants.
