Kotor 1 vs Kotor 2?
Witch did you enjoy more? I think both are great games, but I think I like the first game more. I just enjoyed the plot and planets more. Kotor 2 has more interesting interactions with crew members with Influence.I also enjoyed the higher level cap new force powers/feats etc the story was good but I liked the first games storyline.Like in the first game, I Enjoyed all the planets and worlds I also think the first game had more planets to explore too.

Kotor 2 some of the planets weren't as interesting to me.Some examples:
Peragus: my very first playthrough years ago. I almost dropped this game because of how boring the game is at first. I hated Peragus, it just wasn't interesting, I pushed through and ended up enjoying the game later. But I had a blast on Taris despite not starting off as a jedi.

Telos: same as Peragus was a bit bland not as bad though I didn't mind it as much but it wasn't as fun your just running around to trying to get off Telos. I enjoyed the Jedi training on Dantooine in the first game.

Nar Shadaa: I actually enjoyed this planet, it was decent had some fun on this one. This is always my first stop after haveing freedom to do whatever so I can get my lightsaber quicker. has some some fun quests on it and interesting characters to meet.

Korriban:This planet is okay, but It wasn't nearly as fun as the first games version of Korriban. The first game you had to sneak in and pose as a sith trainee. Kotor there isn't much at Korriban it's all ruins. I guess I just enjoyed the first Korriban more because it had people and quests to interact with.

Dantooine: same as Korriban but there is people and quests, so I didn't mind this planet it was decent.

Onderon/Moon planet (name slipped my mind) This is probably my fav two planets in this game I really enjoyed the civil war and getting to see your former master.

Droid planet: (cut content) Can't say I orignally got this on console. Just got both games for pc. I downloaded the cut content mod I'm doing a new playthrough now to check out the planet. Hope it's good.

Does anyone else feel the same? I'm doing a playthrough right now with restored content so maybe my opinion will change after I'm done.:goblin:

TL;DR I enjoyed all the worlds on the first game. I didn't enjoy all the worlds on the second game or as much.

Peragus should have been much creepier for what had happened there and Telos feels more obligatory than fun.

However, I really liked the haunted look of Korriban in the second game, though again it wasn't creepy enough, the tomb of that Sith Lord was very interesting though.

For me the storylines are about even, without the big reveal in the first one and the characters that one becomes attached to, the story in the first one is closer to generic Star Wars but the writing skill that was at Bioware lifted it to heaven and beyond. 2's storyline was actually better IMO but wasn't finished, even with the RCM, because it was designed with a scond part in mind, which makes it slightly inferior.

The worlds in the second game struck me as similar to walking through the battlefield after the battle was won and seeing the grim results.

Tough to say however overall I prefer Kotor 1 than 2 just because of the more interesting planets. Tatooine was supringsly interesting

I can agree on the story, But I still feel the first game did the planets better, I enjoyed every planet on the first none felt boring or forced. I do know Taris and Dantooine restrict you the same way, Peragus and Telos but you don't notice it as much, Because Taris has places to explore and and people and quests to do. Peragus there isn't anything to do other then rush through the objectives and get off that boring planet.

Yeah I enjoyed that planet also, Manan and kayshkk also. I forget how to spell their names properly.I miss those 3 planets. I understand that they didn't put them back in it would be rehash if it had every planet from the first game. They could have thrown in a couple new fun planets though to make up for it. I did really like Nar Shadaa and Onderon though.

I can't believe I know this but Manaan and Kashyyyk. KotOR 2 always struck me as a little underplayed almost everywhere. I think it would have reached its true potential if it had not been rushed and were rated "M" instead of "T".

unfortunatly I had issues with 2 playing on my compter. 1 I enjoyed - but it was on the older one! Once I can get things running I'll let you know;D

I find both games to be fairly equal but 1 has a slight advantage because it is a complete story (refering more to an intended sequel not the cut content) but in the end it is really even between the two. I was so focused on your points I didn't actually answer your question, sorry.

Yeah, I agree both are pretty good. I'm not hateing on Kotor 2 it's pretty good despite some things I disliked. I do enjoy it, It is better gameplay wise as far as feats/powers/ I also liked the Prestige classes those were really interesting. Kotor 2 also has a way higher level cap Kotor 1 caps you out at level 20. Kotor 2 I think if i remember correctly it caps you out 50.

KOTOR 2 overall. It has some flaws that aren't present in KOTOR, but overall i enjoyed KOTOR 2 much more; largely thanks to the characters and storyline.

It is just tragic the potential for greatness that KotOR 2 had if it had been given reasonable development time and downright amazing that it is as good as it was for how limited the development time was.

Now, when I say this, I want it to be known that I love the heck out of both of these games, even though I am going to lay some really harsh critisizm of Kotor 2.

Kotor 2 did do alot of things better than 1. The Workbench was better, saber customization deeper, better abilities, and it was for the most part a very good game. However, I will say Kotor 1 had a better story, in a way that I felt was actually more coherent than the story in Kotor 2. I felt Kotor 2 also had better characters for the most part, including the player character. However, I dont think that is what seperated these 2 games the most.

In my opinion, Peragus is one of the worse introductions I have ever played through. It's extremely boring. Its terribly drawn out. After being through a fairly boring prolouge (which you can skip THANK GOD), it just creates more boredom. It does what Kotor 1 did in 15 minutes, and stretches the game out TWO TO THREE (2-3) HOURS. Now, thats not to that there are other intros that are worse, because there are (Superman 64 stills haunts me to this day). And I would say peragus would be better if the first half of Telos was also better. Then, I guess as a minor thing, I feel that the turret mini-game thing(?) was completely unneeded, and did not make a whole lotta sense considering sith troopers start running out of literally nowhere, after not a single sith TROOPER (making the distinction from Assassin) makes any sort of appearence anywhere on Peragus, or the Republic Ship for that matter.

I do not believe its a stretch to say that if I wasnt such a hardcore starwars fan, and such an avid fan of kotor 1, I probably would of stopped playing kotor 2 immediately. The involvment of Peragus was flawed from the start, considering most introductions to anything starwars have been stright action. It takes too long for the game to get any bit interesting, where the first game was fun right at the beginning, in a sequence that gets you involved in the action right away. In alot of ways, comparing the intro to 1 to the intro of 2 is alot like comparing the beginning of "A New Hope" to the beginning of "The Phantom Menace." One is an exciting battle between good and evil, and the other is fairly unexplained and dreadfully boring.

So, there you have it. If you guys disagree, then we can probably agree to disagree. Also, if you are looking through this stub to determine whether or not you should buy this game, I would say buy it if you enjoyed Kotor 1 (btw, you SHOULD play and beat kotor 1 before playing this installment). I hope my opinions have been a good vehicle to insert discussion.

I agree with you. Peragus was terrible. My biggest issue is that whole thing is Linear and boring., There is litterally nothing to do on Peragus but the objectives and it's boring also to do them. Years ago I actaully played Kotor 2 first before Kotor 1. I kept dragging my heels to get past Peragus, I almost quit the game entirely because of how bad it sucks at first. I ended up finally getting it glad I didn't quit, The game is far better later on. Telos feels kinda boring too I'm not a fan of it, But I didn't mind Telos as much at least there is some exploration and quests, and Telos does get better once you get farther into the plot when your getting close to completeing the plot on Telos.

Granted its been years since playing the first one but I have nothing but fond memories of it and I will always refer to the story as a great one. Now the second one I have played twice, with and without restoration, the first time I hated the game and the second time I still hated it. There's just nothing interesting going on the second game most of it is just a mirror of the first, same niche of planets and characters, and the "story" is filled nonsensical mumbo jumbo you need to consult a FAQ to understand.

The worst part about the second game though is that your character, the Exile, is more like a passenger to the plot than the driving force. Its more about what the first games character left behind, and you just walk around witnessing events unfold. Clicking and clicking through what the game wants you to see and do until finally reaching one of the most terrible and disappointing endings ever.

I liked the grey morality that was present in Kotor II than the cut-and dried obvious alignments in Kotor I. Also Kreia was a pretty cool character.

There already is: TOR Online. If you can look past the MMO stuff, it's a pretty good sequel.
