Circuit V.S. Roadcourse?
What's the difference between a circuit and a road course?

This is my personal understanding of these track types:

Circuit - Permanent track, designed and built for racing
RoadCourse - Temporary track, public road that is located outside of a city and it's closed off for the purpose of a racing event, mostly cover a longer distance

Thanks for your reply. I always thought tracks like Road America and Road Atlanta were road courses. But I can see how your definition would work.

Think this comes down to series like NASCAR or IndyCar that race on a variety of different track types using the term road course to describe regular, non-oval tracks, since the term circuit just won't be precise enough to define the characteristics of the track.

In that meaning, those tracks you mentioned do classify as road courses.

Yes, this is how it goes. This is how these track types have been defined for GR1 already at RSC.
