The way the car slides, accelerates, brakes (if you brake while turning, the car goes backwards), the way it turns, the way it maintains speed on the straight or when entering the corner... nothing is satisfying. Driving these little cars is a miserable experience, while GeneRally 1 is extremely fun.
GeneRally 2, unfortunately, is an extremely un-fun game, to a level I honestly haven't seen in years. I'm not going to ask for a refund just out of curiosity to see if the developers can pull off the miracle of saving this game, but a tip: it's not about fixing the AI or changing the characteristics of the cars. This game is unfun in the most primal sense possible, it's like someone tried to remake GeneRally 1 but managed to take ALL the fun out of the game, creating the most boring experience possible in an arcade racing game.
Devs, get your heads together, play GeneRally 1 again and understand that what makes that game so good is the handling of the cars. Then play GeneRally 2 and realize that NOTHING that makes those old cars so fun, responsive, aggressive, is present in the current game.
unfortunately said brain explosions happen multiple times a lap. Pretty confident it can be fixed though
edit: It's a lot better since the patch. But unfortunately it seems that a lot of AI are just following the line like in GR1, fast cars get stuck behind slow cars and just try to drive through them, etc.
I'm glad the AI aren't stopping in the pits multiple times per lap, or regularly driving into walls. But I also don't get the feeling like there's improved AI held back by bugs anymore.
