Tungsten appears as veins deep underground, If you fine a cave follow it down and eventually you should find tungsten. You will need a weapon powerful enough to mine it, One of the hammers would be my recommendation. When you hover over a hammer it will popup and show you how much damage it does to each category of material.

ich wußte nicht genau wo ich Wolframerz suchen sollte, ob oben auf nem Berg oder tief unter der Erde. Denn Gold habe ich schon ziemlich weit oben gefunden. Auch hab ich schon einen tiefen Stollen gegraben aber bin bisher noch nicht auf Wolfram Erz gestoßen. Aber in der Zwischenzeit hab ich tief unten eine Höhle entdeckt mit jede Menge Spinnen und Monster, da muß ich mir erst mal Fackeln bauen um die zu erforschen.

I've also dug a deep tunnel but haven't found any tungsten ore yet. But in the meantime I discovered a cave deep down with lots of spiders and monsters, so I have to build torches to explore them.

I have the same problem, i went through a cave down to the bedrock, found even diamond and all the other stuff but not tungsten ore... is this a map generation bug or something? I need tungsten ore :DDD

It is definitely there, If you go down an existing mine shaft you should find it. Tungsten and titanium appear at the same frequency, If your in the zone where gold ruby and diamonds appear then your in the right area.
