"Partial Controller Support" Partial indeed!
Ok, lemme just start out this little rant by saying that I have my rig hooked up to my 32" HDTV and I game from my couch so I much prefer sitting back and relaxing with a controller in my hands rather than being hunched over a kb+m on a TV tray unless it's a strategy game like civ 5 or something. (and no, I do not want to play my games on my 14" computer screen).

With that out of the way, what the hell is wrong with the gamepad controls for this game?!? I can pause my game with the start button but I can't unpause unless I hit escape on my keyboard or click "resume game"? the hell?! Oh, and don't get me started on the movement and aiming controls. There I am, on a small floating platform, and if I even nudge the left stick in the slightest, I go shooting off to the left or right or whatever. ARGH, SO FRUSTRATING! This could somewhat be fixed if there were adjustable deadzones for the sticks. The platforming bits in this game are HELL because of this and I doubt it's much better with the kb+m. This wouldn't even be that bad if we could manually/quick save wherever we pleased but no, there's a stupid checkpoint system where if you die, you have to slog through the same areas over and over again. Didn't anybody playtest this game with a controller before release? If you were going to half-♥♥♥ it devs, I'd rather you didn't implement it at all and I would have avoided this game for the moment until it was fixed/added in properly.

In conclusion, if you plan on playing this game with a controller, I got 3 words for you: DO NOT BUY! (until proper gamepad controls are implemented)

Yes, the gamepad support for this game is quite laughable.

Who said you had to be "hunched over" to use KB&M? If you are going to remove the PC from its usual location(desk) to a TV then get the proper setup going to be able to do it both ways(KB&M and controller). A real pc fps like this isnt going to be well suited for a controller even if it has "proper controller support".

The game is too fast, there is no way in a million years you'd be able to play it properly with a controller. Chilling on the couch is nice, but it just doesn't work with games like this.

and that's exactly why I said " If you were going to half-♥♥♥ it devs, I'd rather you didn't implement it at all and I would have avoided this game"

If you're playing a game like this with a gamepad, you are doing it wrong.

You went into this game knowing what it is. And if not you could have taken the time to read up about it. Be a smart consumer.

By UE3 engine supports gamepads, but the developers chose to not support for obvious reasons.

OK, first of all, all you kb+m elitists can go ♥♥♥♥ yourselves, I'm not interested in hearing it.

Second of all, I think you're missing the point of my rant. I have played many, many games on Steam, including FPSes, that have "partial gamepad support" and a majority of them had perfectly acceptable gamepad controls. This game, however, does not. Period. They should not have included it AT ALL since it's so terrible. Plus, I'm warning others who primarily play with gamepads to maybe look for something else so they don't repeat my mistake.

I always find keyboard and mouse elitists funny

One of the biggest reasons for PC gaming dominance back in the 90s was due to being able to use any perepheral you wanted. Remember flight sims? People used to play first person shooters with their joystick. I remember I bought my first flight stick entirely to play Grim Fandango on.

We use PCs and should be allowed to use any technology we want with them without being scrutinized as "dumbed down casuals" when it was the norm more then 10 years ago

Automatically assumes everybody replying is an elitist. Not the case, we are simply stating that the game is inherently unplayable with a controller and that you should know that before buying it.

It's a game with the same speed as titles like Quake. As such, the game is not really meant to be played with a controller. Nobody is being "elitist" - they're just telling the truth.

I couldn't imagine playing this game with a gamepad. It's a lot more fast-paced and twitchy than your average modern FPS. I still hope they fix this issue soon though, since it seems to be a deal breaker for some people and I'd like to see the community grow as much as it can.
