Astonishing art style
Hey there,
I just spent around 2.5 hours playing the demo of Hotel Galactic, and I have to say—it’s truly enjoyable! The smooth sound effects and calming music blend perfectly with the overall vibe of the game. The combination of Asian and Western-style elements (predominantly Asian) is an inspired choice, adding so much charm and personality. The character designs, their animations, and the overall presentation are absolutely adorable. Every time the quest marker appears with “Talk to [xyz],” the characters give a playful wink and make funny little noises to grab the player’s attention—it's such a delightful touch. Well done!
That said, I do have some suggestions for improvement:

Save Functionality: It would be fantastic to have a save button in the demo to allow players to continue where they left off. Currently, having to start over each time is a bit frustrating.

Wall Decoration Placement: I struggled with placing wall decorations. The lack of a grid or snapping feature makes it tricky to align items like wall lights at the same height. It would be helpful to introduce a tool for precise placement.

Building Mode - Hallways: I’d love to see a feature that allows players to add hallways. This would improve zoning and organization for both hotel guests and staff.

Staff Management: While the current task prioritization system works great and doesn’t need changing (thumbs up! 😄), I found it unclear how staff stats work in the overview. For example, my staff gained levels through their work, but the numbers in the management interface didn’t reflect those changes. Adding a detailed log or window for each staff member, showing their current experience points (XP) and the required XP for the next level, would be super helpful. Also, it would be great to customize their outfits or change their colors for a more personal touch!

Interaction Bubble:
Whenever actions are available, the associated icons are not clickable. For exmaple, when delivering meals to guests, the plates appear quite small if you are zoomed out. This requires players to either zoom in or carefully click on the dish itself to serve it to customers. It would be a significant improvement if the icons themselves were made clickable for ease of interaction.

Pets: Lastly, it would be amazing to have a feature where players can hire or purchase pets from the merchant. These pets wouldn’t need complex skills like the staff but could enhance the hotel’s appeal and provide extra entertainment for the guests.

All in all, I’m really looking forward to the game’s release!

We’re really glad the vibe clicked with you! The playful audio cues, cozy atmosphere, and that mix of anime meets Western culture but differently than Netflix (welp) design are all things we put a lot of care into, so it’s awesome to hear they stood out.

A lot of the things you brought up: from save functionality to staff progression / customization options are actually already on our radar (or even in development), and we go into more detail on many of them in Devlog #3 if you’re curious!

Pets though? Hmm, that does sound interesting :steammocking:
