Do you really want another bad quality game that badly? o.o
Cause that's likely what you're going to get if things get rushed. Lots of bugs to work out and probably has to work on multiple platforms and other stuff that might be needed. Smallest bug can totally wreck a game and make it needed to be re-done from scratch.

I feel bad for the sukers that funded DQ2.

Sure its taking them awhile to get the game done, but at least they're providing regular progress reports https://www.fortressofdoors.com/

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know about this site. Honestly, it's been a loooooooooong time in the making, but I'd rather have a nice, polished experience that comes out when it's ready rather than a buggy mess right now. For a while, I thought that the game wasn't being worked on anymore. But hey! All things in good time. Great to hear things are still moving.

sequel took too long. taking less than 6 years isn't mutually exclusive to "shipping out with bugs and less quality". you can make a quality game in less time than 6 years, maybe they shouldve recruited more help if they cant do it in less time.

i played this game years ago, as most of you have, it was a great game but you gotta deliver to your fans.

im glad i didnt fund DQ2, never risk early development games, always a chance that things dont pan out...you'll get these white knights defending them 6+ years later....

I funded DQ2 and i am really disappointed.
I had great hopes after he remade the first game with the new engine of the 2nd to flesh it out and finding the last bugs out of it.

But after that the only thing that can be said: he become lazy and had no real intention to work on a sequel. All other was and are only (not even good) excuses from his side.

But i am not angry.
I played the first game again after the remade and had a lot of fun with it again. So i got something for my money.

For everyone saying 6 years, LOL. It;'s been over 10 years since they announced kickstarters.

It was supposed to be finished 6 years ago. Then the idea of making it avaliable for consoles, and hand holds and this feature and that feature, on to oblivion...

decade to make, then ... half-decade in beta-stage.. and then another few years in 'early-access' .. hopefully my grandchildren will be able to see the final release...

Wow, someone is being unrealistically optimistic. Come on, we all know that we'll be basking in the warmth of a Red Giant Sun before it hits Beta. EA won't hit till after the Supernova, with release just after a new star. :lunar2019grinningpig:

The early Alpha didn't have graphics, just placeholders, no story, nothing really.

I requested a refund this week and to their credit, they did refund me my pre-ordered. I feel bad for Lars, I really do but... I mean it's been years since I pre-ordered.

18th December 2013 is apparently when I 'backed' the sequel according to my records.
So yeah, a little over 7 years for a 2D tower defence game. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Actually not the slowest compared to a handful of my other still-pending Kickstarter projects though incredibly enough, so there's that.

Maybe so, but endless delays can still make Daikatana and Duke Nukem Forever.
