Well considering it's a shotgun it should have a sniper scope attached to it

If you are going for max det build, then it doesn't matter what you use.
If you want crits, then any -1 concealment sight will do fine. I think the most popular -1 concealment sight is spector 1.5x

It's a shotgun, it doesn't even need a sight. So adding one will just hurt your concealment for no reason.

Well in any case, unless using it for a very specific (and mostly unnecessary) setup, shottys don't need sights really. So iron sights are often the best way to go. Or, if you can, use flip up sights like the raven has available.

AP slugs are unironically good, especially on high damage shotguns
get overkill aced, combo that with a good low-mid dmg AR/smg

sights help a lot with hitting your shots

If you wanna get into shotgun ammo types and usage, tombstone is the best route I've found.
Overkill isn't even needed with it and instead you can just spec into shotgun impact if you want. One shot kills a heavy on dw/ds plus it stuns them from any range. No sights needed, just hipfire in the general direction.

You're right, the discussion is about what sights to use. But since you will usually hip fire with a shotgun unless specifically using AP then there's not really a need for a sight.

shotguns are still usable on high difficulties

I find shotguns better because mostly they have higher concealment and rate of fire compared to snipers, at least i rather face tank a dozer with a shotty so it dies faster than killing it through a wall from the distance, that said i mostly dont use ap slugs unless on a secondary only for shields
