Elemental effects vs Raw Damage
I have a 2 part question and Id like some opinions on the matter. Disregard playstyle for a moment. Do you prefer the elemental damage bonus or the raw damage a weapon can get? Raw Damage is not resisted by anything that Im aware of and elemental effects only really affect around 30% of each type of troop. Fire is the more common but the cast it works on primarily dies in one hit anyways. Caustic provides a more simple approach to killing shielders and bosses for the most part, however you lose overall damage to resiliant enemies.

This brings up another question. Ive been experimenting, doing farm runs with different weapon types and what I found is that a bigger punch, rather than a hail of bullets, is often just quicker and easier. I suppose they, the magnums and shotguns, reload slower but it seems like the less damaging rifles and SMG type guns require like half a clip to kill the same opponent that I do with a single shot or two. At that point the faster reload doesnt really make a difference does it?

In essence my question is thus. Rate of fire over raw damage and once attained raw damage over elemental affect? Im mid game by the way. Not to end game content just now so if thats the mitigating factor let me know. Anyhow. Have fun and play nice.

The only element worth running is corrosion (aside from maybe ice in a group as support) because it deals with almost all the mobs you can only hit during certain time frames and most bosses are weak to it.

Raw vs Elemental depends on gun, elemental damage doesn't decrease or increase according to clip size like raw does, so for low clip guns it's better to have raw and for high clip guns it's better to have elemental.

As for comparing magnums/shotguns to SMGs/Rifles, for late game Magnums with Selective Fire proficiency is probably highest dps you can get, shotguns fall off a bit I'd say though. Second in dps would be SMGs with the Flash Loader Bio Mod stacking corrosion damage as that isn't decreased by the 50% damage reduction.

Hope this reply isn't too late, I realise you asked this 20 days ago haha.

This is still good information for me.
