Black Screen?

Been trying to play with a friend, but every time she tries to play she gets a black screen

Asked her to describe it, here's what she said

"when the game starts up and i hit enter and then play the screen just goes black for a while then the loading helecopter thing pops up for a while and the screen goes black again. i can hear music and things i just cant see or do anything"

Any solutions?

the game is waiting for the connection to complete, if you leave it for a while (about 2-3 minutes) you should be sent to the camp and receive a notification about someone leaving.

this might be caused by many thing, could be your firewall, could be that the host has disconnected while you were loading.

This happens in singleplayer for me as well, exactly as described above. It's inconsistent though, sometimes I can get to camp or start a mission normally, sometimes I'll just get a black screen with sound.

Yeah, she can't even get that far She can't get past the loading screen really before it goes black. And she can hear the music and hear herself hitting buttons she just can't see the game.

Windows for my case.

Seems like it might've been an issue with the game not liking overlays, like from TeamSpeak or Mumble. I've gotten through four or five transitions without issues after turning it off so maybe that was it. I'll post again if it comes back.

Windows 7 and black screen only on coop (7h played).
My friend see me moving, i can hear sound, but black screen.

He gave me instructions to enter a room (for the reloading) but still black.

Just had it happen again. It seems much more rare after shutting down TeamSpeak and Mumble, though.

ok, i'll try to reproduce it with mumble thanks for the tip, can't give you an ETA on the fix though

I had mumble for coop with overlay.

Windows for my friend, and she doesn't use any overlays outside of the steam one

I get the same problem...I got windows 8, set the compatibility for the program to windows XP, but still can't see anything.

Same here, exactly the same, but it's only just started happening to me, i'm on windows, i use mumble, it started happening since i began running the temple missions today, before that i didn't seem to have any issues.
