Age of Empires II (2103) RETIRED?

Has anybody using a MacBook Pro running Ventura encountered a message that Age of Empires II is RETIRED? I'm trying to play after a few years hiatus and the game and all the DLCs I bought on Steam are grayed out and unable to launch. Unfortunately being on a Mac there's hardly any resources online about what to do to work around this and play my old favorite.

The game itself is still playable on Mac through some workaround applications such as Wineskin Winery, Cross Over, etc. If your game is not running anymore that might be because the Wrapper you're using to run Steam is a bit outdated.

What did you usually use to run the game ?

I noticed the store icon has been greyed out and all discussions show as locked for me when accessing this community hub normally. I can only reply when there's a /0/ as part of the url. Weird. They shouldn't disable stuff especially if the game is still available for purchase with a price tag?
