Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Will Linux ever just work?
Windows just works.

Linux is like jumping through hoops just to start your personal computer.

If Linux is "so much better", why is it so much worse?

You are asking the wrong questions.
You should ask "Why do I only seem to know how to use Windows?"

Next reply is probably that we are just elitist or whatever that is...

Windows did just work.
Now, it's more like "I hope Windows works and nothing breaks or gets taken from me."
I'm using Linux since the end of 1998 and I can guarantee you it works quite ok; every operative system & kernel has flaws, but, I just enjoy the lil penguin...
Penguin is the best.

Yes, with Linux you have to configure your kernel from scratch and compile everything on every reboot. Git gud :-)

Windows hasn't "just worked" for many people in a very long time. I have to spend an hour or two removing all of the junk it comes preinstalled with, disabling telemetry, manually installing drivers, etc.

I'd rather spend a few days learning about linux instead of having to deal with whatever junk microsoft is cooking up on windows for the rest of my life.

It is not "harder", it is just different. Different underlying paradigm, different implementation of other paradigms, different layout of the system, different set of commands (if you come from some familiarity with say, DOS), etc. While these differences some are subtle and many more are not (system layout), it is, however, reasonably easy to understand.

In this regard the system is less forgiving when you make a mistake when.compared to Windows (not as much as FisherPriceOS which pretty much forces you to use a more rigid interaction, to the point that the GUI is "faster" and less convoluted, and yes I am talking about you, macos!, in this regard).

Being it different and using a whole different set of paradigms and conventions IS initially disorienting. You just have to adapt and indeed see the differences for what they are. Neither is "better" and both are "better" for some people, at the same time.

Because it's the only OS on the planet that works properly.

I'm sorry, can't hear you when you're all the way up in your Ivory PC Towercase.

This is a lie. Windows 11 has never had any problems and everything is designed for it.

Penguins are going extinct.

Yeah, I know. I don't need to get good, I have a good OS. Windows 11.

Why are you removing necessary programs from your personal computer? Microsoft has tested their OS vigorously and know what you need. You also don't just "take a few days learning Linux", okay. It takes years to understand anything. That's like saying you should take a few days learning to be a lumberjack if you go camping.

Mac OS is better than Linux by leagues. I'd rather buy an iPhone than get involved with the Linux headache simulator they call an OS that never works.

Basically
Linux will never get passed 0.01% marketshare. or whatever part of a percentage it's currently sitting at. It's obsolete and impossible to use software.

Bait is too obvious at this point, better to unsub and ignore.

If you describe YOUR problems in a clear and concise way then we might be able to figure something out...
Obvious bait, a quite poor and weak one at that.

I give it two Gates outa 10 Windows.

Linux = 2.69% on Steam
OSX = 1.85% on Steam

So yeah, you're wrong.
