Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

UbiSoft Connect will not connect, Steam displays "error 105", will not show store or forums in client, but it works just fine in webbrowser
Steam client will not show store. That, by itself, I can live with, but the UbiSoft launcher also refuses to recognize that I am in fact online.

That means I cannot run Anno 1800... any ideas?

I'm running Manjaro Linux, CPU: 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 5500 (-MT MCP-) speed/min/max: 1052/400/4267 MHz, Kernel: 6.6.19-1-MANJARO x86_64 Up: 9m Mem: 3.65/15.49 GiB (23.6%), Storage: 931.51 GiB (42.1% used) Procs: 320 Shell: Zsh inxi: 3.3.33

Three days ago, while I was playing Anno 1800, something broke in the stack somewhere, and I couldn't sync to UbiSoft upon quitting. Since then, my machine would go online at all the last day, and I ended up replacing NetworkManager with systemd-networkd. Now, my machine talks to the 'net again, except for parts of the Steam client. The client will download software and updates, but will not show the store.

Anybody know how I can control how the Steam client accesses the web? Is there some kind of network.conf file for Steam somewhere? I thought about broken DNS (fiddling with resolv.conf and all), but then my web browser, too, wouldn't connect, and it does... as does betterbird.

I didfind an old wine issue and reduced MTU packet sizes, but no effect.

I'm at the end of my rope. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

things you could try:
- disable ipv6
- install local dns cache
- reinstall network-manager
- plug the pc directly to the internet to avoid NAT issues
- disable/enable your vpn
- for testing purposes, locate and run the ubisoft launcher via wine/bottles/lutris without steam in the way
