Proton Crash Makes PC Sleep
I have had the same bug with multiple games that use Proton. Atomic Heart, Ark, Dune: Spice Wars, and StarCraft II when I run it with Proton. They all have exactly the same bug, which means that it must be Proton related. This doesn’t happen with any Linux native games.

The bug is as follows:

I start the game. The loading screen appears. The menus appear. I press “start” on one of these games, and as the gameplay starts my screen goes black and my computer enters sleep mode. I can’t open a terminal or use my keyboard after this happens. I can’t restart the computer using the restart button either. I have to turn the power supply off and on to make the computer restart.

I am including my system specifications and my Proton Logs for Dune: Spice Wars.

I had the same problem on my Ubuntu 22.04 installation. This is a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 installation and it has exactly the same bug, so I do not think it is a case of broken packages or software somewhere on my system interfering with the normal function of Steam.

Yes. I tried using Xorg on Ubuntu 22.04 and I had the same bug.

I wouldn't know how this could create your problem, but are you running Steam inside Flatpak? You could give the "native" package a try.

No. I'm not running Steam using Flatpak. I used the .deb distributed by Valve.
