No Man's Sky game save "incompatible with this version"
I have been playing NMS on Mint 19.3 for over 100 hours and suddenly seem to have lost my progress. I had an issue where my Linux partition became full and I couldn't log in. I used the live version on cd to reclaim space by moving personal files to another partition. When I then tried to play NMS steam said it had to do a "reinstall" of NMS but it was only a 640MB file. Then I was able to run NMS but attempting to resume my game gives me the "incompatible" error message.

It is painful to lose so much time and progress "S" class exotic ship, freighter etc. I have tried Mints Timeshift to no avail. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this is the incorrect forum for this matter.

It's probably worth - before you risk breaking it - sending your save files to Hello Games. They may be able to give you new files with the new format (if that's what it is) that contain all the stuff that you had in your old files.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I just started up a new game. Easy come easy gone! I could not find any game save files in the directory so something may have happened in a Mint crash I had earlier. Mint has crashed ungracefully when I run out of disk space. So, I bought a bigger disk :-)
