Steam client not using gpu to accelerate
I see the webhelper uses these arguments:

.steam/ubuntu12_32/steamwebhelper --type=renderer --disable-accelerated-video-decode --disable-delegated-renderer --disable-gpu-compositing --disable-threaded-compositing --enable-pinch --enable-software-compositing --no-sandbox --lang=en-US --lang=en_US.UTF-8 --product-version=Valve Steam Client --enable-pinch --disable-accelerated-compositing --channel=28119.0.1098456655

glxinfo:

glxinfo | grep rendering direct rendering: Yes

This causes the client to use about 20% of my cpu while idle and up to 40% when I'm browsing the store.

Here's my system info:

I'm using catalyst 14.9 on my HD 7850. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you seen any web browser work properly under linux while acceleration was on and it wasn't running on an nvidia card? Not even Firefox can do it. Then why would Steam, which is probably even worse than IE, when it comes to the browser part?...

Not our fault if you are a noob. Steam uses CEF (Chrome) and Chrome has no issues with open or closed driver on linux.
GPU composer is disabled in Windows too.
